Central Europe battles catastrophic flooding, with Czech Republic and Poland hit hardest. At least 17 dead across the region as heavy rains cause rivers to overflow, submerging towns, collapsing bridges, and forcing mass evacuations. Nysa, Poland (pop. 40,000) faces urgent evacuation after floodbank damage. In Czech Litovel, 70% of town under 1m of water. Polish PM Tusk allocates 1 billion zlotys for aid, seeks EU support. Residents describe scenes of "apocalypse" with debris-strewn streets and communities cut off. As some areas begin cleanup, others like Wroclaw brace for flood waters. Bratislava and Budapest prepare defenses as Danube rises. The floods, worst in two decades, wreak havoc on infrastructure, leaving many without electricity, water, or communication.

Jerzy Adamczyk, 70, said the scene resembled “Armageddon”. He added: “It literally ripped out everything because we don’t have a single bridge. In Ladek, all bridges have disappeared. We are practically cut off from the world.”

Eastern Europe Disaster You are looking at significant damage to business and household infrastructure. Damage to rail and road networks. Damage to electricity, gas and water supplies. This will have long-term detrimental impacts on individuals and businesses and the regional economy in general.
